Aarani Paramalingam, Policy/Advocacy Specialist
I joined the IYHD Policy and Advocacy Committee because of my interest in public health and becoming more involved in the Regent Park community in which I grew up. As a student and now graduate of a Master of Public program, I became particularly aware of the diverse intersections that encompass the experience of racialized, immigrant, and refugee youth. IYHD was the perfect opportunity to use my knowledge and experience working in an academic and applied research environment to foster conversations between youth and with youth about various health-related issues. I am passionate about building capacity to support the use of evidence based practice, data advocacy, and health innovation.
Fun Fact: When my academic hat is off, I like to spend my time trying new teas, learning to rollerblade, and doodling on my digital art tablet.
